2003
Wine By Joe Pinot Noir
We drank this when drummer and all around amazing musician Tony Graci
came over to listen to a just arrived copy of The Last Cathedral and
tuck into some food and wine. He also brought a copy of his newly
arrived CD Reflections on Steel. This is a kick ass juicy cherry/blackberry
pinot! Mmmm..mm. |

2002
or 2003 Cairnbrae Sauvignon Blanc
We've had this numerous times and loved each and every bottle. Versatile,
a great food wine. Primo New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Grassy, grapefruity,
with just a hint of good ole cat's piss. New World has got the Old
World beat! |

Tonight's
the Night
Neil Young
Now here's what happens when a bunch of your friends drop dead, you
get totally twaked on Jose Quervo and you decide to get the reel to
reel to capture every slurred, beautiful, raw, "I just don't
give a shit" moment. "Mellow My Mind" is so anti polish
it's actually perfection. Also see On the Beach. |

Van
Morrison
Don't ask Van about these dogs. He has railed on several fans and
interviewers who actually believed he lived in this castle and chased
after these dogs with a pooper-scooper during the mid seventies. I
don't think so. Not while wearing the nudie suits he was prone to
at that point. Van is full of surprises. In the Last Waltz he manages
to surprise with a high kick worthy of a budding Rockette. On this
album he blends Irish folk melodies with jazz and lyrics inspired
by the pulp westerns he read as a child. What the hell is he talking
about? Who cares? It's pure first-take inspiration. I used to put
this record on before bed and drift off into its hazy cognac glow.
I can't recommend certain songs on this album, I only listen to it
start to finish. |
