Violet is a male/female duo that includes Meredith Minogue (vocals, guitar) and Jim Barry (guitar and various string instruments). Formed in 1994, Violet have followed their collective influences to create an interesting acoustic sound that is reminiscent of both the Indigo Girls and 10,000 Maniacs. With their intellectual word play and a highlight on social issues from a feminine point of view, Violet will find a solid following within the coffee house scene that once nurtured the talent in both of the aforementioned bands. Their songs are engaging and well crafted.
