STORY Violet plays post-modern folk rock. Songwriters Meredith Minogue (vocals, guitar) and Jim Barry (guitar, other stringed instruments) are currently in the studio putting the final touches on their second full-length CD, slated for release in Spring 2005. As with Violet's first album, "We Both Know It's Out There" Minogue and Barry enlisted the help of producer/engineer Adam Lasus (Clem Snide, Helium) drummer Antonio Graci and bassist Skip Ward. Also featured are keyboardist Joe McGinty, cellist Leah Coloff and violinist Claudia Chopek. "We Both Know It's Out There," released in 2001, received coverage in the NY Post and ICE Magazine. It was also selected by Performing Songwriter Magazine as one of the year's best independent CDs. Violet has performed both on their own and with a full band including musicians who had previously played with The Waterboys, REM, and The Joe Strummer Band. They have performed at The CMJ Festival, The Knitting Factory, and Webster Hall and were featured on "The Fringe," a pilot for a live music television series. <<
